Pierre Gruneberg is a living legend at Cap Ferrat. He is a qualified swimming instructor and physiotherapist and inventor of the ingenious ABC method -Aquatic Breathing Control, and has taught the whole world to swim: 59 years spent teaching people... and stars to swim. Charlie Chaplin’s children, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Eric Cantona all learnt to swim thanks to him. Pierre Gruneberg held Stella McCartney in his arms, while the ex-Beatles went windsurfing.
Picasso and Cocteau didn’t actual bathe. But they did a drawing for him as a dedication in his personal and very private golden book including also: George Bush, King Umberto of Italy, Gianni Agnelli, Sir Elton John… Tina Turner (a neighbour of the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat), Jean d’Ormesson… as well as King Baudoin, Gérard Depardieu, Johnny Hallyday all of whom he taught to ski in Courchevel where he works… during the winter season.
